Hello and welcome to Garden On!
Am I excited to move with my family from New York’s Hudson Valley to the San Francisco Bay Area? Yes!
Will I have to learn how to garden in a totally new climate, and learn to id hundreds of new plants, along with botanical names? Yes!
Where are the best nurseries? When are the plant sales? Which public gardens will become my favorites to visit again and again? And when the heck is spring?
I have a lot of questions, and I can’t wait to start figuring it all out. But mostly I can’t wait to start GARDENING.
In 2001 Laura Wilson moved to NY’s Hudson Valley where she began a decade long career in professional horticulture. She managed a garden center, studied landscape design at The New York Botanical Garden and established herself as a professional gardener, consultant and educator.
Determined to help promote the region’s vast gardening opportunities, Laura launched the Hudson Valley Garden Calendar website and co-founded Hudson Valley Garden Association, a regional non-profit garden organization. She blogged previously at Hudson Valley Garden Journal, which later became the weblog for HVGA.
